Altinkum Holidays

  • Golden sandy beaches
  • ideal for families
  • Friendly and welcoming town
  • Altinkum is a modern development that is closely allied with its near neighbour, the more traditional Didim. With great holiday weather and three beautiful beaches, the area is very popular with UK tourists, who can take advantage of its dual nature to soak up the sun and enjoy modern amenities, while still having access to attractions dating back to the Greek and Roman empires. It’s a great place for a package holiday, as it has everything you could want, whether you’re travelling alone or enjoying a family holiday.

    Altinkum Weather

The climate in Altinkum is typical for this part of the world, with a long period of warm, very warm or hot weather during the tourist season from April to October. In spite of the temperature during July and August sometimes reaching the mid-thirties and averaging around 25 degrees, the heat feels comfortable due to the cooling effect of the wind. The water temperature is also at its warmest during these two months, making it the best time for swimming. Although the rain tends to fall during the winter months, particularly January, the temperature remains mild throughout the year.

    Beaches in Altinkum

Essentially, Altinkum is a beach resort and there are three beaches to choose from, called Main Beach, Second Beach and Third Beach. The promenade, favoured by shoppers as it contains a great many stalls, runs along the back of Main Beach; Second Beach is a quieter area, preferred by couples and visitors who are not as interested in water sports, while Third Beach is close to the marina. All three are good for families with small children, as their gently sloping sands lead into the Aegean Sea without any surprising ledges, making them quite safe. Water sports, such as jet skiing and snorkelling are popular and both sun beds and parasols are available to hire. There are a number of cafés, bars and restaurants nearby, so you won’t need to stray far to eat. Additionally, you can pick up boat tours from Altinkum and explore the area’s rich history.

    Popular Hotels in Altinkum

Although these beaches are open to the public, those visitors lucky enough to stay at the Didim Beach Resort have access to its small private beach, complete with sun loungers and parasols, although you have to stake your claim early as there are limited numbers. The hotel offers good views of the bay and has several features that make it an ideal location if you intend to make your stay all inclusive. There are several places to eat with a very good range of food, which comes in plentiful supply and a kids club with friendly and experienced staff, so you can rest assured that your children will be enjoying their stay even while they’re not with you. They may be involved in group games, crafts and sports or even playing on water slides, leaving you free to enjoy the bars or the spa. There is occasional entertainment as well, such as karaoke, but if the on-site offerings aren’t to your taste, you can hop on the bus and head into the town to enjoy the lively bars and clubs.

The Didim Beach Resort isn’t the only place with easy beach access, however. For example, many visitors opt for Didim's Club Tarhan. With three pools, a great selection of fresh food and friendly, welcoming staff who do their best to involve guests in the entertainment, you should consider booking early to ensure you get to stay at this or another beach front hotel.
